Ingredients

For the donuts:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: oil for frying (if making fried donuts)

For the vanilla glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the batter
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until just combined—do not overmix.

Step 2: Bake or fry
To bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan and spoon the batter into the molds about 3/4 full. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
To fry: Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough into balls or shape with a cutter, and fry 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.

Step 3: Make the glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Adjust consistency as needed.

Step 4: Dip and decorate
Once donuts are slightly cooled, dip the tops into the glaze. Add sprinkles if using. Let set on a wire rack.

Step 5: Enjoy!
Serve fresh with coffee, tea, or a cold glass of milk. These vanilla donuts are pure homemade happiness!
