When you’re craving something warm, hearty, and easy to whip up with pantry staples, this Ground Turkey with Potatoes recipe delivers every time. It’s a flavorful one-pan meal made with lean ground turkey, tender potatoes, and a mix of spices and veggies that turns everyday ingredients into something truly comforting.

Whether you’re meal prepping for the week or throwing together a last-minute dinner, this dish fits the bill. It’s budget-friendly, endlessly adaptable, and all done in one skillet — which means fewer dishes and more time to relax.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground turkey
  • 2–3 medium potatoes, diced small
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper (any color), chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin (optional for extra warmth)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water (optional, to soften potatoes faster)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep and Sauté the Veggies

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to brown and soften. If they begin to stick, add a splash of water or broth to steam them slightly.

Add the onion and bell pepper, and cook for another 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

Step 2: Brown the Turkey

Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the ground turkey. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6–7 minutes. Season with paprika, salt, pepper, and cumin if using.

Mix the turkey and vegetables together in the pan.

Step 3: Simmer and Combine

Lower the heat, cover, and cook everything together for 5–7 more minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender and flavors meld. Add a bit more broth or water if needed to prevent sticking or dryness.

Step 4: Serve and Garnish

Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Sprinkle with fresh parsley or green onions before serving. Enjoy it on its own, wrapped in tortillas, or served over rice or eggs.

Tips & Variations:

  • Swap ground turkey with ground chicken or beef.
  • Add frozen peas or corn during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Spice it up with chili flakes or hot sauce.
